(Spoilers for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)
Hey, guys, hi!
So as many of you may have seen on the Facebook page me and my sister went to the first part of a Harry Potter marathon, the first two movies.
(Look, my sister has an awesome Hufflepuff lanyard and bottle of felix felicis around her neck!)
And it was Fawkes at the end of Chamber of Secrets that got me thinking.
Okay, firstly, we wondered, if phoenix tears have healing powers, why didn't Dumbledore just offer up Fawkes for all the petrified people? Instead they had to wait for the mandrakes to be ready. But what if that worked? Maybe it wouldn't. But it was just something I wondered.
And now I'm going to say what I started thinking. Phoenixes are kind of like people.
Wait, what? Let me explain myself. So Dumbledore is describing to Harry in his office all the things that the phoenix can do. He says first that they can carry incredibly heavy loads. And I thought hey, I've watched people go through really hard stuff in their lives but they can still handle it and by the time it's all over they aren't completely done, they can keep going still. People can carry incredibly heavy loads too.
And then Dumbledore said that phoenix's tears have healing powers. Honestly when I thought about it I thought that it was kind of a miracle that phoenixes could cry at all, because they're birds and birds don't generally cry. But I thought about it and I thought that people's tears have healing powers too. Because when a person is so heartbroken and devastated about whatever has happened to them, and then someone is mourning with them, or crying should I say, because they care about that person, and that makes that person feel just a little bit better.
So whenever you are thinking that you are not amazing, remember that that is not true! Because you have the same powers as a phoenix and that is awesome! I love you, fandomeers!
