Adventures in the CLAM: "Look Around at How Lucky We Are to Be Alive Right Now" (April 13, 2020-April 19, 2020)

 Hey everyone!
Being December, today is the second day of Light the World, which is a campaign to celebrate Jesus's birth during the month of Christmas by serving others. Today the challenge is to share on social media who your hero is that shows Christlike love, and I already blew up my Instagram with a bunch of mission pals that have made a big impact on my life. But since I'm writing about my mission buddies here too, I would hate it if I failed to mention here that all the people mentioned in this post are my heroes. The ward members, the friends, the missionaries, and of course Jesus. I'm so grateful to have all of them in my life.
Enjoy!

Hello one and all!
LA LOVE:
We do district council and Come, Follow Me study together every week as a zone, which is nice, and we sing hymns together during those meetings. However, since we are singing over the phone, it's not like we can just sing neatly and in unison. Our hymns always sound like a total mess haha. But honestly, in a way, it's the most beautiful sound in the world, because it's the sound of disciples of Jesus Christ praising Him even when it's not pretty or easy. And as the Lord said in scripture (to a faithful and strong woman, I might add), ""For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads." (Doctrine and Covenants 25:12)
Since we're all isolated and we all miss each other so much and we're trying to make sure everyone is okay, we are pretty much constantly having phone calls. We are on the phone with mission leaders almost every night. This week we even had the privilege of having a call with Hermana! Let us tell you that was a joy.
We have been doing trainings every day on the Ed App about how to teach online! We have gotten a lot of helpful ideas about how we can do even better missionary work and it has been so fun.
EVENTS OF THE WEEK:
We spent another p-day inside, this time without going shopping. We only go out to do laundry and pick up our mail. When we went to get our mail, it was the weirdest and most tragic thing to see our zone leaders in person. We all miss each other for sure but this time is making us better teachers so I'm happy about it.
We had a mission update meeting with everyone in the mission this week. A lot is going on and I'm so excited about it! Let me tell you, the missionaries are working as hard as ever and are seeing better results than ever before. If you think we're bored and have nothing to do, we're not. Missionaries always have and always will be living the best life.
District council this week was about asking questions and listening to our friends. It was really cool to learn from each other about better ways to do that, because honestly that's really the only way you know what to teach your friends.
We had zone interview with President Cordon this week! Wow I love that man. President Cordon is really impressed with the work we've been doing. When he found out we had been doing our trainings, roleplays, mastery cycle, and transfer objectives, he was like oh that's why you've been so successful! I love having a mission president that definitely loves us and is always willing to help us with literally everything. We could've had anyone, but we got the Cordons. I am so grateful Heavenly Father gave me them.
One of the new changes to our mission is we are getting a training every week on how to use technology to teach! This week we learned about how to work with members. It was awesome! We learned a lot of hot tips that are already proving to be helpful.
We studied Come, Follow Me for the Sabbath as a zone. Reading the scriptures with missionaries is the best because we're all pretty passionate about it haha. We all have favorite insights and it's great to learn a lot from and about each other's testimonies.
FRIENDS:
Nataly and John are doing SO good. We read "The Finest Homes" by Elder Clayton and talked about what they are doing to build a fine home and how they can continue to build one still. We also learned about good leadership from King Benjamin (see Mosiah 1-5)! We are really trying to encourage them to unite their gospel learning as a family and have them pray together every day.
We made a new friend in Redondo 2nd named Craig! So we will call him Craig for now and the other Craig will be Craig T. haha. He is awesome! He said God really helped him out of a bad place in his life, and he started going to church! He had a lot of intelligent and awesome insights about God and has enjoyed learning with missionaries in the past. We are so excited to teach him!
Monica is doing great. She is opening up more and more every day. She is such a spiritual person and she never fails to impress us with her answers. We talked about the example that her mother set for her in following God. We also did a Sabbath experience focusing on Mosiah 2 where we talked about service! Monica is so sweet and understood the concept of service really well. We read Mosiah 18:8-10 to then elaborate on how we can serve others and serve God (see Mosiah 2:17), and when we asked what we could do to serve the first thing she said was  make covenants with God! So stay tuned folks.
We made a new friend, Corey! He is great. He said he was religious but lost a lot of his faith, and when we asked what he lost faith in, he revealed that he had a lot of good questions that can all be answered through the restored gospel!
Ariana is doing great. We talked about who the Holy Ghost is and what the gift of the Holy Ghost means. She is so excited to go to institute and to serve a mission in a year!
Our Sophia is amazing. We talked about Jesus Christ's Church, the Great Apostasy, and the Restoration. She understood it perfectly. When we showed how all of the churches came to be in the Great Apostasy she immediately recognized that they all had good things but were missing the most important part: Jesus Christ's priesthood power.
We read from 1 Nephi 4 with Diana. She retains knowledge from the scriptures super well! We also talked about how God loves her. That is something she has been told all her life but has difficulty feeling it for herself. We are eager to see how the gospel will help her feel that knowledge.
We taught Mary about how Heavenly Father loves her and her divine identity as His daughter. She got super emotional and talked about how her greatest desire is to help people. She is amazing and faithful to the Lord.
We taught Lisa about how the gospel blesses us! She has a lot of faith and is willing to hear messages from us.
We got to call Lucy and Greg! Wow they are some of our faves. We studied from Mosiah 2. They say they try to make King Benjamin their examples of how to be good parents! Let us tell you Greg loves King Benjamin and knows a ton about him. We were so impressed.
As so many of our friends did this week, I invite you all to study Mosiah 2 from the Book of Mormon this week. It's a beautiful story about a great king and prophet gathering his people one last time to hear a sermon before he dies. He talks about service, obedience, gratitude, and the goodness of God. It's a fan favorite of everyone who reads it. After you read it tell me your favorite part!
Thanks and much love!
