Adventures in the CLAM: Zone Founders (August 19, 2019-August 25, 2019)

Hello one and all!
(I know what you're all thinking, it's my birthday, but I'm not gonna talk about it until next week HAHA.)
LA LOVE:
Because it is my birthday, Sister White has been super excited and planning what we're going to do for that. One day we were eating lunch and whispered something to her. Sister Pace responded by saying, "She wants to bake her own cake!" Lolol I'm too famous in the mission for baking.
So this is something I didn't mention when I wrote about transfer calls, but while I am in the Reseda area, I am in an entirely new zone! The Granola Hills zone has been split in half, now being the Granada Hills and Canoga Park zones. Sister White and I are in the brand-new Canoga Park zone. When we gathered together as a zone for the first time, Elder Terry (our zone leader) told us that we were the founders of this zone, and we were going to set the tone for it. We were going to be the ones that determine how people react when they hear about us, the ones that move them to say, "The Canoga Park zone? Oh, they're awesome! They get so much work done there." I already love the zone and am so excited to be a Canoga Park zone founder!
Reseda is a super small area. There's honestly not a ton of places we can go. Because that's true, we see a lot of the same people all the time and it's so fun! We'll be on the streets and say hi to a ton of people we know! A lot of people in the area are just casual friends of ours and it's awesome. Reseda is a super intimate area, which is probably why I've been here for so long because I'm a very intimate person!
EVENTS OF THE WEEK:
For the last p-day of the transfer and the last p-day in a trio we went to Michoacana with Sister Merkley and Sister Brower. Sister Merkley is transferred (for the first time) to Northridge and SHE'S MY NEW SISTER TRAINING LEADER ALONG WITH SISTER BRAMMER. Sister Brower is staying in Van Nuys and her new companion is Sister Kwok! We also went to Chick-fil-a with Sister Pickett, Sister Ruvalcaba, Sister Pender, and Sister Garcia! Love them, super fun times.
Transfer day came and Sister Pace picked up her new trainee! Sister Pond is from Henderson in the Black Mountain stake! And the best part is Sister White and I totally predicted that she would be the trainee Sister Pace got. We love her!
We had our first district council of the transfer! Oh man our district is so great. We did some street contacting roleplays and learned about goal-setting. Love them.
We went to the visitors' center with the Norris family and Johnny! Johnny loved it there and we're gonna go back soon. We heard a concert by the Aloha Ukulele Ensemble and it was a wonderful time. Seriously so fun.
FRIENDS:
We had a Come, Follow Me study with Sister Pace with Ed and Alicia. They are an awesome family and it was great talking about the scriptures with them.
We taught Johnny about the rest of the Plan of Salvation. It was awesome because Bishop Vittetoe came and joined us halfway through our lesson and it was awesome! He told us a great story about his experiences with performing ordinances for his ancestors. The next day we taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to Johnny and he is going to be baptized in two weeks! We are so happy for him and his love for the gospel.
Sukki had a lot of questions about the Restoration of the gospel for us this week. We're happy to see her curiosity in the gospel grow.
We found out about a great concern Tony has that we hadn't known before, in all this time that Ii've been teaching him! He is super awesome; we love him. We had a dinner with him and the Okelberry family too! Super fun times.
We met Dorcas in a park and she invited us to start teaching her on the spot! She has a strong knowledge of God's love for her already and we taught her the Plan of Salvation as well. She's pretty much the coolest person we've ever met.
David is learning more about prophets and priesthood authority and is progressing a lot. He has a lot of questions and we love seeing him learn.
We had another lesson with Carmen! We taught her about the Restoration and she had a lot of questions. She has an honest heart and is looking for a lot of answers. We love her and we know she is going to find her answers here.
Thanks and much love!
--Sister Day
